CHRIS FARLEY joined SNL's cast in 1990, and left it in 1995. He would cameo in a '96 episode, and host one in '97. Farley's characters include motivational speaker Matt Foley, Gap girl Cindy Crawford, annoying wife Beverly Gelfand, Chicago superfan Todd O'Connor, Herlihy Boy spokesman Mr. O'Connor, Middle-Aged Man's sidekick Drinkin' Buddy, and Bennett Brauer, a man who described his poor hygiene and constantly spoke with "air quotes." He's also played himself as the nervous and awkward host of The Chris Farley Show, auditioned to work at Chippendale's, and was the lunch lady in Adam Sandler's song "Lunch Lady Land." Farley's impressions include Meat Loaf, Dom DeLuise, Tom Arnold, Roger Ebert, and Mama Cass. You can find "The Best of Chris Farley" at video stores and stuff.
While a castmember, Farley made appearances in films such as Wayne's World 1 and 2 with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, Coneheads with Dan Aykroyd, and Airheads and Billy Madison with Adam Sandler. After leaving the cast of SNL, Farley starred in the films Tommy Boy and Black Sheep with David Spade, Beverly Hills Ninja with Chris Rock, Almost Heroes, and Dirty Work with Norm MacDonald. Farley was also Dreamworks's original choice to be the voice of the animated character Shrek. The role was recast after his passing.
MOLLY SHANNON was an SNL castmember from 1995 until 2001. She's made a few cameos since then, and hosted the show in 2007. Her characters include awkward Catholic schoolgirl Mary Catherine Galagher, co-host of Goth Talk Circe Nightshade, Delicious Dish co-host Terry Rialto, horrible comedienne Jeannie Darcy (no seriously, she played an unfunny comedienne), and overly proud 50 year old dancer Sally O'Malley. Shannon's impressions include Courtney Love, Elizabeth Taylor, Emma Bunton (Baby Spice from The Spice Girls), Bjork, Anna Nicole Smith, Madonna, Monica Lewinski, and Meredith Vieira (then co-host of The View). Molly Shannon's "Best of" DVD is available.
Shannon's off-SNL work includes roles in A Night at the Roxbury with Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan, My Boss's Daughter, Good Boy!, Marie Antoinette, Evan Almighty, and Year of the Dog. Her Mary Catherine Galagher character was adapted to the big screen in Superstar, she's starred on the NBC show Kath & Kim, and she's made appearances in the show Pushing Daisies.
