CHRIS KATTAN joined the cast of SNL in the middle of the 1995-96 season and hung around until the end of the 2002-2003 season. Since then he's made several cameo appearances. Kattan's characters include Doug Butabi of the Roxbury Guys, goth teenager Azrael Abyss, Gay Hitler, Kyle DeMarco (who, along with his brother, would audition to be a dancer for famous musicians), Mango, and Mr. Peepers. Kattan's impressions include Steve Irwin, Ricky Martin, Kid Rock, John Oates from Hall & Oates, David Lee Roth, Christopher Lowell, Anne Heche, and Al Pacino, among others. "The Best of Chris Kattan" is available on DVD.
Kattan's film work includes A Night at the Roxbury based on the popular SNL characters, Corky Romano, Monkeybone, Undercover Brother, Santa's Slay (?!), Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters along with Tina Fey, and the upcoming film Hollywood & Wine with David Spade, Norm MacDonald, Horatio Sanz, and Chris Parnell. He also appeared in a Pepsi MAX commercial where celebrities did the famous Roxbury head-bob, while Kattan voiced his disapproval.
AL FRANKEN has been a writer for SNL for many years, but he's shown up on camera as a featured player sporadically throughout the show's history. He was a featured player from 1977-1980 and 1985-1995. In that time, Franken has played the character of Stuart Smalley, a self-help guru (once in-character mocking audiences that chose to see Dumb and Dumber instead of his movie, Stuart Saves His Family), he's been a Weekend Update correspondent, deriding SNL itself and NBC's honchos, he's performed impressions of Henry Kissinger, Pat Robertson, and others, and he's been a one-man satellite broadcasting an interview with troops in Baghdad. He's also performed comedy routines with his writing partner Tom Davis. Franken's writing for the show earned him 3 Emmy awards.
As mentioned, Franken's Stuart Smalley character was featured in the film Stuart Saves His Family. He's also had roles in The Rutles: All You Need is Cash with Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, and Bill Murray, Trading Places with Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy (as a dimwitted baggage handler on the train), and others. He's also entered into the arena of politics, but we're not here to talk about that.
