Okay, so I know I said that I really didn't want to include "kaiju" style monsters in this, but the fact is that these two bad boys are legends. These two monsters have transcended their black & white roots and moved into the entire world's pop culture lexicon. Therefore, I'm making an exception for them and now they'll be battling it out here in the tournament. It's King Kong vs. Godzilla II! Godzilla
Debut Year: 1954 Debut Movie: GodzillaI got nothing funny to say about Gojira. Vs.King Kong
Debut Year: 1933 Debut Movie: King KongHe's really wishes he has some barrels to throw at those planes.

Godzilla, 'cause I enjoyed the American Godzilla movie and thought he was pretty cool.

Godzilla, though that's not to say there's anything wrong with King Kong, just a personal preference.

While they're both awesome, I've always been a much bigger Godzilla fan than a Kong fan.

Godzilla.
King Kong is just a King, while Godzilla is a God.

Kong, as I have hated every Godzilla movie I have ever seen. Every single one.

Even the first one TR?
Also, I voted for Kong as well. Anyone man enough to kidnap Mario's girlfriend is okay in my book.

I'm not a big fan of Jackson's Kong, or the 1976 film, but I do enjoy the original film. Slightly off-topic, it's kind of cool seeing two big luminaries like this in the first round. I'd actually wondered if you'd pull a similar swerve, like having Freddy and Jason facing off in the first round. That would have been interesting.

Before DP started up on this one, I had plans to do a tourney like this in October, though on a much smaller scale. And, since Freddy and Jason were the two finalists last October, I was gonna put them against each other as the first match of the tourney, just to shake things up. That's an entirely different ape with the last name Kong, you big jerkface! I don't go around acting like "Deadpool" and "Kiddie Pool" are the exact same thing, just because they both end in Pool, now do I? HUH?! *shakes fist angrily at you*

Wow...a truly epic match, and I feel sorry for whomever has to face the winner of this (hopefully NOT Kayako).
I vote Zilla.

Yeah, I'm trying to balance this round being intresting with also perserving intresting match ups for later. For instance, if I put all favorites vs favorites and underdogs vs underdogs in this round, it would be intresting to see who wins, but later rounds would pretty much be sweep fests. I just HAD to make sure this one got done though. ;D

And Godzilla wins the biggest match up of the tournament so far.
I'm going to join my brother and cousin in watching Return of the Killer Tomatos, then I'll be back to get the new match up.
